Cupping therapy: descriptive synthesis of training

Overview

Cupping therapy: descriptive synthesis of training presents an evidence-informed overview of how cupping therapy training is reported and organized across different settings within traditional, complementary and integrative medicine. Drawing primarily on a systematic scoping review, the working paper describes reported training pathways, curriculum content, competency domains, learning outcomes, approaches to delivery and assessment, trainer qualifications, training facilities and accreditation arrangements.

The analysis focuses primarily on cupping based on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) while acknowledging the diversity of cupping practices across medical systems. Designed as a descriptive, non-normative reference, it is intended to support informed discussion among policy-makers, regulators, education and accreditation bodies, health professionals, researchers and cupping therapy practitioners, with its use and application considered in national, regional and global training and regulatory contexts.
