Registrations are now open for the “Global Expo 2027”, a first-of-its-kind conference convened by WHO/Europe, together with the Government of Ireland and in partnership with HealthTech Ireland in Dublin, Ireland, on 24–25 February 2027.
The conference, the full title of which is “Global Expo 2027: Transforming health and social care through workforce optimization, digital innovation, assistive technology and disability inclusion”, will for the first time bring together policy-makers, health and care professionals, innovators, educators, researchers, industry and people with lived experience to examine evidence, share learning and identify approaches that can deliver meaningful, measurable impact.
The Expo will include 2 different components that complement one another:
- scientific conference, led by WHO/Europe in partnership with WHO headquarters and the Government of Ireland – a global forum for sharing research, evidence, policy and practical solutions to strengthen health- and social-care systems; and
- exhibition, led separately by the Government of Ireland, its enterprise ministries and HealthTech Ireland – where partners will showcase innovations and technologies that can support more inclusive, effective and sustainable care.
The 2 components have separate governance and delivery arrangements. WHO focuses on the scientific conference.
No single sector can transform health and social care alone
The challenges facing health and social care systems require action across sectors.
By connecting evidence and expertise from academia with innovation from the private sector, alongside policy, practice and lived experience, the Expo aims to accelerate the exchange of ideas and help translate evidence and innovation into more inclusive and sustainable models of health and social care.
The scientific conference at a glance
The scientific conference will explore how countries are redesigning health- and social-care services to better use the expertise of the workforce, harness digital health and AI tools effectively, and expand access to assistive technology to support participation, independent living and rights-based, disability-inclusive practice.
The conference is structured around 3 interconnected themes:
- workforce optimization, for high-value, responsive systems
- assistive technology, for participation, independence and inclusion
- disability inclusion, driving equity, rights and system impact.
The scientific conference will provide a global forum for sharing research, policy, practice and innovation in health- and social-care workforce transformation, assistive technology and disability-inclusive health systems. The conference will also feature keynote speeches, plenary sessions, scientific papers, case studies and poster presentations.
